Patient Stories

  • Robert Morris from Tri-State Shreveport Clinic

From the first time I walked into Tri-State, the care and treatment I have received has been more than I expected. I've had pain from sciatica for a long time and the pain has decreased in just three visits. I highly recommend Tri-State Physical Therapy.

  • Darlene Augustine from Tri-State Bossier Clinic

My physical therapy and aquatic therapy are preparing me to return to my everyday life. The treatment teams cooperate and they collaborate with me and other team members. I am hopeful I'll be my best self in a few weeks.

  • Elaine Fairbanks from Tri-State Shreveport Clinic

This is my second time for a round of physical therapy with Ms. Ginger due to psoriatic arthritis and lupus. Ms. Ginger is very gentle, knowledgeable, and professional. Plus, all visits are scheduled for my convenience.

  • Jack Finke from Tri-State Bossier Clinic

Absolutely amazing place for physical therapy. All of the staff work together like family to get you started on your recovery from the first moment you walk in the door. I would recommend Tri-State to anyone with PT needs.

  • Susan Powell from Tri-State Bossier Clinic

Everyone enjoys visiting with the patients while they are receiving treatment. The staff is highly qualified and efficient. Such a nice environment while you (the patient) is hurting. However, if you aren't hurting, they are not doing their job.

Overuse Syndromes

Overuse syndrome is an umbrella term for a repetitive motion disorder that can causes persistent pain and damage in muscles, joints, tendons, nerves, and soft tissue. It is generally caused by the repetition of one movement or motion constantly over a long period of time (e.g., assembly line or computer work).

Growth spurts, body structure, improper equipment or equipment that is not ergonomically designed, poor mechanics, nutrition, and hormonal factors can also cause excessive stress in the body, which can lead to overuse syndrome. Left untreated, these conditions can lead to microtrauma (small tears in muscles, ligaments or tendons), which can cause significant pain and even disability.

Common overuse syndrome conditions include:

  • Tendinitis
  • De Quervain's Tenosynovitis (irritation in the wrist and thumb tendons)
  • Stenosing Tenosynovitis (swollen flexor tendons)
  • Capsulitis (inflamed ligaments)
  • Golfer's Elbow (medial epicondylitis)
  • Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • Muscle Strains
  • Ligament Sprains

Shine Splints

Shin Splints is also known as Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS). It is a common condition among runners, athletes, and other active individuals, as well as in individuals who have previously sustained a running injury, individuals with flat feet (flattened arches of the foot), and individuals with a higher body mass index. Shin splints is an exercise-induced repetitive stress condition caused by overworked muscles, tendons, and bone tissue, resulting in pain along the anterior (front outside) or medial (inner) part of the shinbone (tibia - the large front bone in the lower leg) and possibly some edema (swelling) of the lower leg.

Pain along the front outer part of the shinbone is called anterior shin splints and pain along the inside part is called medial shin splints. Medial shin splints is the most common type of shin splints.

Ergonomic Education

Ergonomics is a strategy implemented in the workplace to provide an efficient and safe work environment for all employees. An important part of this strategy involves education and prevention programs taught by an ergonomics expert. These programs include teaching worker participants the principles of ergonomics in the workplace and how to maintain a safe workspace.

Common ergonomic education topics may include:

  • Why injury prevention is important
  • Factors that contribute to injuries
  • Posture and body mechanics
  • Proper use of office/industrial equipment
  • Stretching classes for injury prevention
